Sweden is building railroads for the future

Botnia Link is cutting travel time in the north

In the Northern Sweden a world class railroad is under construction. While some other countries in the Northern Europe are hesitating to build new railroads, Sweden is thinking differently. 19 billion Swedish crones will finance the Botnia Line. The travel time will be halfed for the commuters in North Botnia. Tourists will be offered a modern railway service.

100 million swedish crones (10mill euro) per kilometer is the price. Still the Swedish Railroads (Banverket) is claiming that the line will be profitable and will cut the travel time to the half. The line will be ready in 2010 if everything goes according to the plans.
