Barents Spektakel 2010 attracts artists as well as politicians

One highlight in the High North has just passed while the next one is coming up. Last weekend 300 athletes from Norway, Finland and Russia met in Kirkenes / Norway to compete in swimming, wrestling and other sports. Now the city gets prepared to host the Barents Spektakel 2010.

Form 3^rd to 10^th of February Kirkenes’ town center will transform into a stage for music and art as well as political debates. Barents Spektakel 2010 is a festival that combines cultural and political topics. Here, contemporary art, performances, literature, theatre and film meet seminars, debates and conferences dealing with current issues related to the Barents Region and the High North in general.

To map opportunities for better growth and life quality in the Southern Norwegian areas is the main goal of the debate “Talking North” with Morten Strøksnes, Arne O. Holm and Aslak Nore. The three Norwegian writers will come to Barents Spektakel to talk about issues related to the changing of borders. Furthermore the Kirkenes Conference 2011 will be held on 2^nd and 3^rd of February. This year’s headline: Politics – Innovation – Energy/Industry – Logistics in the High North.
